Right Lead Counter Canter Advice

When you are in right lead counter canter (going left but in right lead):  yes, the horse is to maintain right body bend around your right leg with you maintaining left rein contact (which is the outside rein contact necessary for right lead canter).  As you go through the short side, you must sit in the middle, stretch tall and sitting on your right seat bone with left leg slightly back to indicate right lead canter.  The right calf is the impulse leg so try to keep the left leg in position but don’t drive with it.  You have a good outside rein (left rein) contact and her shoulders must be aligned (don’t take neck bend to the right, which will allow her to fall through her left shoulder).  The rider sitting a little to the right, but be still in your upper body - don’t pump.
